From the Committee – February 2025
Championship Course Reopening
We are just over four weeks from the reopening of the golf course and the sense of anticipation is building among members. More than 100 members have had the opportunity to venture out on our Hole-Walking Tours with more scheduled in the coming weeks.
Bookings are now open for the Championship Course Grand Reopening Party on Saturday 29th March. With over 200 bookings in the first 30 minutes, this is going to be a party not to miss. You can book via the website to join fellow members and celebrate this new chapter in the Club’s history.
We wish to provide a final reminder to enter the ballot to play on the opening weekend. Entries close on Tuesday 25th February at 2.00pm and the computer-generated draw will occur on Friday 28th February.
Whether you are playing or not, you are welcome to join in the festival of celebration throughout the weekend of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March. With entertainment, food and drinks to enjoy, it is a great way for you and your family to share in the celebration of our new course.
There is more information about the ballot and reopening weekend available on the Championship Course FAQs page of the website.
Committee Nominations and AGM
The 2025 AGM will be held at the Club on Wednesday 30th April from 6.00pm. Nominations for the four General Committee positions falling vacant at the AGM closed on Monday 17th February, with the four incumbent committee members nominating for re-election. There were no further nominations.
Our Club is very fortunate to have a large and committed group of members that contribute to shaping the Club’s future through their active involvement in the Club’s Sub-Committees. The General Committee has approved the appointment of new Sub-Committee members to start in April, continuing this great Club tradition of service. We are particularly pleased to have several younger members joining the House, Men’s Golf, Tennis & Squash and Snooker Sub-Committees this year.
Nominations for Sub-Committees remain open and we encourage any members interested in joining to nominate and be considered for positions in 2026.
List of Nominees Eligible for Election
The General Committee reviewed the list of nominees eligible for election for July 2025. This will be communicated to members for final review in the coming weeks. We encourage all members to please take the time to read and review this list and contact the President (for women) or Vice President (for men) should they have views other than in support of a nominee.
Member Feedback
Thank you to members who attended the recent Clubhouse Chats hosted by the General Committee. These were a great opportunity for members to raise issues, give feedback, and ask questions. They were also an opportunity for the Committee to speak about the year ahead and objectives.
Seeking regular member feedback is a key part to improving and ensuring the Club remains relevant. This is an important element of the Club’s strategy, and as part of this approach, we will be undertaking a Club-wide member survey in the coming weeks. We ask that you please take the time to complete the questionnaire and provide your feedback. Details on this will follow, and as a Committee, we look forward to sharing the results with members.
Changes to the Garden Sub-Committee
As part of the desire to improve Governance, the Committee initiated a review of Sub-Committees in late 2023. Various changes have been made across Sub-Committees and this continues to be an ongoing process.
With the Paul Bangay Garden Master Plan in place, providing a clear direction for the Club’s gardens, it was appropriate to review the need for a Gardens Sub-Committee at this point in time. Following consideration, it has been decided that the Sub-Committee will be disbanded. Chair and experienced landscape designer Will Dangar will remain involved as a working group to provide advice to Course Superintendent Adam Marchant and his team on a needs basis. We are grateful for the contribution of the Gardens Sub-Committee over the past years.

We look forward to continuing this communication on a regular basis in 2025.
