Junior Sport Pathway

Junior Membership
One avenue to attaining Junior Membership at Royal Sydney is the Junior Sport Program. The Junior Sport program exists to introduce children and grandchildren of members to the Club and to its various sports, of which golf and tennis are the primary programs.

From eight years of age, children and grandchildren of members may begin participating in afternoon clinics or school holiday camps. The clinics and camps are designed to introduce the children to each sport in a fun, structured, and safe way.

The pathway provides an opportunity for children to progress through various levels of the program as their skill level increases. In the school holiday stream of the program for example, by spending multiple hours and days on their golf or tennis skills, children are often quick to improve at their chosen sport.

Regular participants in these programs, who are children and grandchildren of members, whose names are on the Waiting List and who have shown ability and embrace the spirit of the sport and act in a responsible manner at the Club, may be nominated for Cadet membership by the Tennis or Golf Professionals through the relevant sporting sub-committees.

Cadet membership provides an avenue for these children to further their golf or tennis games by providing access to sporting facilities, social settings, and friendly competition. By being on the Waiting List for the required period, and by meeting the age criterion of 18 years, these children and grandchildren may progress into Junior membership, available from 18 years of age to all eligible candidates.

Children and grandchildren who do not become cadets are still eligible to become Junior members provided they have fulfilled the regular Waiting List requirements. All members are encouraged to put their children and grandchildren onto the Waiting List, which is by right and without charge by contacting the Membership Office on (02) 8362 7100 or emailing membership@rsgc.com.au.
