Summary: Annual Individual Stableford match between The Australian Golf Club and The Royal Sydney Golf Club to encourage friendship between the Clubs, usually played on a Sunday. Held in alternate years at Royal Sydney and The Australian GC. Teams of eight. Best seven stableford scores to count.
History: An AGC Member brought the ‘purple rock’ from overseas and it was decided to mount it and use it as the trophy for this event. Originally played ‘home and away’ each year but later changed to alternate years at the instigation of AGC as they did not have enough players to field a team. This event started in the early 1990s.
Traditions & Standards: Host club to hold lunch following play. Trophy and prizes are presented at lunch.
