History: Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club has been a reciprocal club of The Royal Sydney Golf Club for many years. Royal Mid-Surrey Members play for the Royal Sydney Trophy each year, and these events are played in the same format at each club. Draw for partners, with pairs comprising one Member under the designated age (60, when possible), and one Member over the designated age. In 2015 the format was changed to make all partners, regardless of age, eligible to win the trophy. The G&M Minutes from 2015 record C.B.L. Hunt proposed a change to the conditions of play for the Royal Mid-Surrey Trophy to remove the age requirements of playing partners to be eligible to win the event as this has been a difficult event to administer over the years in trying to pair up appropriate players in the lead up and on the day of the event.

Traditions & Standards: Prize awarded at President & Captain’s Dinner.
