History: The Cup was presented in 1929 by Sir Robert Horne, a distinguished British politician in appreciation of his visit to the Royal Sydney Golf Club. Sir Robert was successively Minister of Labour, President of the Board of Trade and Chancellor of the Exchequer In Lloyd George’s government. He was raised to the peerage in 1937 and died in 1940.
