History: Medal rounds were introduced in 1978. The Season Medals are a significant part of the R&A’s annual programme and in 1977 Paul Mazoudier suggested to the then Captain, Dick Elworthy, that Royal Sydney introduce them. The suggestion was approved at a Match Sub Commmittee meeting on December 1st, 1977. The first round was played in autumn 1978 and won by E.J Corlette. In August 1978 it was agreed to purchase specially designed Spring, Winter and Autumn medals from Amor Medallists and Badge Makers. All four dies (1 obverse and 3 reverse) cost $510; medals were $9 each and presentation cases $5.90 each. It was agreed to purchase sufficient medals for 10 years, the total cost of which would be recovered from competition fees for the medal events. The use of golf carts in Medal events was also approved.
Traditions & Standards: Medal and prize awarded at President & Captain’s Dinner.
